Description
Make compound interest meaningful with this engaging real-world financial scenarios activity! Students compare how often interest is added (monthly, quarterly, daily, and continuously), along with rate and time, to see how each option changes the total amount of money over time.
Ideal for Algebra 2 and advanced Algebra 1 classes studying exponential growth, compound interest, and real-world financial applications. Also works well as an extension activity for financial literacy or consumer math courses.
Students work in groups of four and each receives four unique cards:
- đź’µ Card 1: Dollar amount of their inheritance

Because every group’s combination is different, the classroom discussion and accountable talk are incredible!
