Description

These SAT Math Practice Skill Checks 1–2 give students targeted SAT-style math practice for test prep, review, and skill application. Students work with algebra, functions, systems, inequalities, quadratics, data analysis, geometry, trigonometry, probability, multiple-choice questions, student-produced responses, graphs, tables, diagrams, and Desmos-style thinking. Each question is designed to help students move beyond basic worksheet practice and recognize how familiar math skills may appear on the SAT.

These Skill Checks are part of the SAT Math Practice Pathway and are designed to follow SAT Math Review Practice Sheets 1–6. The suggested classroom sequence is to complete Practice Sheets 1–3 before Skill Check 1, then Practice Sheets 4–6 before Skill Check 2. They can also be used as stand-alone SAT math review. The practice sheets help students review the underlying math skills, while the Skill Checks help students apply those same skills in SAT-style formats.

SAT Math Practice Pathway

This resource is part of a larger SAT Math practice system. Students first build the skill with basic practice sheets, then apply those same skills in SAT-style questions through the matching Skill Checks.

Practice Sheets 1–6 → Skill Checks 1–2 (You Are Here)

Practice Sheets 7–12 → Skill Checks 3–4

Practice Sheets 13–18 → Skill Checks 5–6

Suggested use: Complete 3 Practice Sheets, then use the matching Skill Check.

For the full system, choose the SAT Math Skill Builder & Transfer Practice Bundle, which includes all 18 Practice Sheets and all 6 matching Skill Checks.

Students may understand a math skill in isolation and still struggle when that same skill appears with different wording, answer choices, graphs, tables, diagrams, or constants. These Skill Checks help bridge that gap so students can build confidence with both the math and the way SAT math questions are written.

Build the skill. Then practice the SAT version.

Students will practice:

  • Applying foundational SAT math skills in SAT-style formats
  • Solving and interpreting linear equations and systems
  • Working with inequalities, functions, tables, and data
  • Using quadratics in SAT-style contexts
  • Interpreting geometry, trigonometry, probability, and arc length questions
  • Answering both multiple-choice and student-produced response questions
  • Thinking through Desmos-style graphing strategies when helpful

Skill Check 1 includes linear equations, systems of equations, slope and y-intercept, interpreting constants in context, writing systems from word problems, inequalities, mean and median, rate reasoning, function tables, completing the square, x-intercepts of quadratics, systems with no solution, and quadratic graphing with Desmos support.

Skill Check 2 continues with linear functions, coordinate geometry, inequalities, right triangle geometry, trigonometric ratios, quadratic vertex form, quadratic equations with one real solution, exponential functions, probability, rational expressions, exponent equations, arc length, and quadratic models with Desmos support.

What’s included:

  • SAT-Style Skill Check 1
  • SAT-Style Skill Check 2
  • 28 total questions
  • Student pages
  • Condensed answer keys
  • Worked-out answer keys
  • Desmos strategy notes where helpful
  • Teacher Guide
  • SAT Math Practice Path page
  • Suggested classroom uses

Suggested uses:

Use these Skill Checks as:

  • A one-day SAT checkpoint
  • A two-day SAT review
  • Partner strategy practice
  • Small-group reteach material
  • A way to review missed questions by skill
  • A bridge between basic math review and SAT-style application

The included teacher support gives options for reviewing missed questions, identifying whether students missed the math skill or the SAT-style wording, and helping students reflect on common mistakes.

SAT Prep Note: These Skill Checks help students practice the step between basic math review and full mixed SAT practice: recognizing familiar skills in SAT-style questions.

This resource includes 2 Skill Checks, 28 total questions, student pages, condensed answer keys, worked-out solutions, and a teacher guide.
