Description
This comprehensive review of slope, rate of change, and y-intercepts is an excellent resource to help your students prepare for the 8th Grade STAAR Math Test.
Originally designed as STAAR test prep, this resource also serves as a valuable review or study tool for Algebra classes.
Aligned with the 8th Grade Objective 4 TEKS for Texas schools, each page includes the topic title and corresponding TEK at the top for easy reference.
This resource includes three worksheets and a set of matching cards, each focused on a different objective:
Understanding Slope Using Similar Right Triangles (8.4A)
Interpreting Unit Rate as Slope in Proportional Relationships (8.4B)
Determining Rate of Change, Slope, or Y-Intercept from a Table or Graph (8.4C)
Additionally, the final activity, Smath’s Problem, integrates multiple concepts and can be used as an assessment or a group activity. Students will create and draw a pattern using paper clips. If available, they can physically construct the figures before sketching them.
