Description
This lesson focuses on finding volume of 3-D shapes and composite figures. Up to this point, students have focused on simple volume problems. In high school geometry, volume is taken to the next level. The focus of this resource is volume of rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, cylinders, rectangular pyramids, triangular pyramids, cones, spheres, hemispheres and composite figures.
This resource also contains a study of Cavalieri’s Principle for the volume of prisms, cylinders, spheres and other 3-D objects.
An extension lesson comparing a hemisphere's volume to the volume of the space outside of cone that has been placed in a cylinder.
You will find a lesson plan, notes, practice problems, task cards and an editable quiz. All answer keys are included.
This resource is also in my Geometry Curriculum.
